Over 600 Syrian students face hardship and possible deportation to Syria due to the current crisis in Syria. Many students, some with their families do not have funds to pay fees or living expenses according to a report in The Guardian Newspaper.
The UK Foreign Office is being lobbied to step in and waive course fees and provide funding to these students whilst the Syrian crisis continues. Furthermore, students should not be deported back to Syria against their wishes.
In July 2011 the UK authorities stepped in and offered help to thousands of Libyan students until their situation was resolved with the appointment of the Libyan Interim Government.
