Pakistani politicians need to learn etiquette (adab) before they are allowed to stand for office.

Shocking behaviour of Politicians on TV in recent weeks has shown that Pakistan does not want them representing the country & it’s great people. Pakistani political commentators also need to learn etiquette before they are allowed to take up valuable airtime. Perhaps TV stations should invite more independent minded people, who do not have to keep putting forward futile, shallow, biased opinions, such as those expressed by the current bunch. Read more →

Hundreds of Syrian students in the UK face hardship and are threatened with expulsion.

Over 600 Syrian students face hardship and possible deportation to Syria due to the current crisis in Syria. Many students, some with their families do not have funds to pay fees or living expenses according to a report in The Guardian Newspaper. The UK Foreign Office is being lobbied to step in and waive course fees and provide funding to these students whilst the Syrian crisis continues. Furthermore, students should not be deported back to Syria against their wishes. In July 2011 the UK authorities stepped in and offered help to thousands of Libyan students until their situation was resolved with the appointment of the Libyan Interim Government. Read more →
